GRACELAND - Home of THE KING!

Graceland is a fellowship of young adults who strive to deepen our relationship, first and foremost, with our Heavenly Father, and second, our brothers and sisters in Christ with humility and under His truth and grace by growing mentally, physically, relationally, and spiritually together to live out the supremacy of Jesus Christ and to bring the kingdom of God in all areas of our lives.

Mission Statement

Graceland’s mission is to become a place and fellowship where young adults are nurtured and transformed into followers of God who walk in love just as Jesus Christ had loved us. (Ephesians 5:1-2)

Vision Statement

Graceland’s vision is to become a sanctified community where brothers and sisters in Christ share their lives (personal triumphs and struggles, possessions) with one another because they know, like, and trust each other; everyone uses and contributes their spiritual gifts to build-up and bond the fellowship even stronger; and where newcomers and visitors can experience the love of God when they interact with a Gracelander.

The Parables of Jesus

Term 3

What is a Parable?: Greek word 'paraballo'. In the Greek "para" means beside, and "ballo" means to cast or throw. So parable means to cast beside.

In the sense that concerns us at the moment, parable means to cast a familiar idea beside an unfamiliar idea in such a way that the comparison helps people to better understand and grasp the unfamiliar idea. A simple story is told, certain features of which are analogous or parallel to the points or principles one wishes to drive home.

How do I interpret a parable?: It is important to understand that in a parable there are certain features that carry the moral or point. Other details are there simply to make the story vivid, memorable, and complete in the mind's eye of the hearer. We should interpret the parables according to the simple principles they are meant to teach. Jesus himself sets us a pattern for interpretation, when he interprets certain of his parables in this simple manner.
